The Family Drug Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local government, and federally-recognized Indian Tribal governments to either implement new drug courts or enhance pre-existing drug courts for individuals with substance abuse disorders or substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders including histories of trauma, involved with the family dependency court as a result of child abuse, neglect, and other parenting issues.

OJJDP FY 11 Second Chance Act Juvenile Mentoring Initiative

The Second Chance Act (P.L. 110-199) authorizes grants to government agencies and nonprofit groups to provide employment assistance, substance abuse treatment, housing, family programming, mentoring, victims' support, and other services to help adult and juvenile ex-offenders to transition successfully from incarceration to the community. OJJDP will provide grants to support mentoring and other transitional services essential to reintegrating juvenile offenders into their communities.

OJJDP FY 11 Nonparticipating State Program, Wyoming

Wyoming has chosen not to participate in the Formula Grants Program, Title II, Part B of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended (JJDP Act). As such, the state is ineligible to receive the FY 2011 Title II Formula Grants Program allocation authorized under Sections 221-3 of the JJDP Act (42 U.S.C. Sections 5631-3). Accordingly, OJJDP is competitively awarding the state's allocation through the Nonparticipating State Program: Wyoming.

This initiative seeks to reduce the availability to and consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons who are younger than 21 years old through assessment, strategic planning, and program implementation. The initiative will provide funds to governor-designated state agencies who are successful applicants to implement research-based and promising practices to enforce underage drinking laws and prevent underage persons from consuming alcohol.

OJJDP supports programs to further the understanding of, and improve the response to, technology-facilitated crimes against children. This program seeks to expand the understanding of how technology is used to commit crimes against young victims. OJJDP will support a program of research on technology-facilitated crimes against children to inform policy and to support the development of effective responses to children at risk for exploitation and other adverse outcomes with funds authorized by 42 U.S.C. 5775.
