Ron Laney, the Associate Administrator of OJJDP's Child Protection Division, received the President's Medallion Award from Western New England College for his "tireless efforts to protect the lives and well-being of children" during his more than 30 years of work in the child protection field. The College awards the President's Medallion to individuals who have distinguished themselves in a particular field or in service to an important cause that has benefited their community, their region, or the Nation. Mr. Laney was honored during the third annual Possibilities: A Children's Safety Conference, held June 4–5 and hosted by the College. The annual conference is supported by OJJDP, the Office for Victims of Crime, and the Association of Missing and Exploited Children Organizations.

Last year, Mr. Laney received a distinguished service award from the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC).
