  • In 1999, 5.2 percent of surveyed students said they had recently felt too unsafe to go to school (Youth Risk Behavior Survey).
  • The percent of surveyed youth who feared attack at school or on the way to and from school decreased significantly between 1995 and 2003, from 12% to 6% (Child Trends DataBank).
