"The need for skilled, committed mentors to reach these young people is vital, especially when so many factors conspire to undermine their sense of security and self-worth," said Alan R. Hanson, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Justice Programs, at the 2018 National Mentoring Summit. Mr. Hanson thanked the participants for their commitment to youth, discussed the impact mentoring can have on young lives, and introduced Caren Harp, OJJDP's new Administrator.

Hosted by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership and supported by OJJDP, the summit is held every January as part of National Mentoring Month, an annual campaign to promote youth mentoring.
