	As of March 2012, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) had assisted law enforcement with more than 187,800 missing-child cases, resulting in the recovery of more than 175,200 children. NCMEC's toll-free national hotline (1–800–THE–LOST) has received more than 3.5 million telephone calls.
Justice Department Honors Law Enforcement Professionals and Private Citizens at Missing Children's Day Ceremony At the annual National Missing Children's Day ceremony held on May 23, 2012, in Washington, DC, the U.S. Department of Justice recognized the outstanding efforts of law enforcement personnel and private citizens who have made a difference in recovering abducted children and protecting children from exploitation.
